//The Gulabi Gang: a Strong Lesson from India.

Sampat Pal Devi is the name of the founder of the Women’s Movement Women from Sari Rose, literally translated Gulabi Gang.

The movement that was born in 2006 with the aim to protect women by abusive husbands but also by their fathers and brothers and to fight increasingly rampant gender-based violence that occurs in India reach forward even more and more by the corruption present in the institutions.

Their only weapon is dialogue and only in rare cases where the torturers not understand the message, they resort to the traditional sticks Indian bamboo, the lathi painted for the occasion rose as their sari.

The color pink was chosen because it is a full color woman and also has no political connotations whatsoever but only the message of freedom and solidarity common to all kind female. In recent years, however, the group has not only defended women but in general all the people belonging to the lower classes that were in trouble, regardless of their sex.

Sampat Pal Devi became famous when he got into a fight tried to defend herself by taking the beatings, a woman from own husband.
